No. The insert is shipped fully assembled. All you have to do is install the holographic glass, which has only two screws. In order to protect the mantel in shipping we ship it unassembled. That way we can put lots of cardboard and styrofoam around so that it’s protected in transit. It goes together like any other piece of furniture in 20 to 30 minutes with just a screwdriver. It can be done with one person but we recommend two. The insert and the mantel come with a comprehensive installation guide with step-by-step instructions and diagrams.
