No. You are looking at a holographic projection of real flames cast onto a real physical log set. We use video of fire so it looks very realistic but there is no actual fire in the fireplace.
However, from a normal viewing angle you really can’t tell the difference. I won’t say it’s indistinguishable from the real thing, but it gets you pretty darn close. The only thing that would get you closer is actually setting something on fire.
