No. Like any electric fireplace it’s best viewed from straight on. That’s not to say that it looks bad from either side but it looks a lot better when viewed straight on. You can view the fireplace offset by as much as 45 degrees on either side, and the flames will still look good, although they will shift slightly on the position of where they appear to burn the logs.
With our fireplace since the flames extended to the front of the logs you actually can see more fire on our fireplace than you can with others where you cannot see the back screen behind the logs because it’s blocked by sheet metal. Our fireplace has a wider viewing angle than other electric fireplaces and will look ok from the sides but better from the front.
