Will it look too small?

No. 28” inches wide by 22” inches tall is a good size fire that can be enjoyed even in a large room. The realism of the flames is the real star of the show. I understand this may be a little bit smaller than what you had in mind, but most people are satisfied with the size once they see it installed and running. The trade-off on size is well worth it for the realism and convenience of this fireplace.
